These Community Standards (“Standards”) apply across all Riftlab Studios community spaces, platforms, and official channels — including but not limited to our Discord server, any future forums, social media spaces, and public community areas associated with RLS games and services. They set the baseline for safe conduct, acceptable content, and enforcement across the studio as a whole.
These Standards operate alongside — and should be read together with — the Riftlab Studios Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, End User Licence Agreement (EULA), and Confidentiality Guidelines. Where game-specific rules of conduct apply (including the Breach Protocol Game Rules available at breachprotocol.space), those documents govern in-game behaviour and do not replace or repeat these studio-wide Standards. In the event of any conflict, the document more specific to the context shall prevail.
By participating in any RLS community space, you agree to abide by these Standards. Riftlab Studios reserves the right to update these Standards at any time; continued participation following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Standards.
SECTION 1 — CORE BEHAVIOUR STANDARDS
The following conduct requirements apply to all participants in RLS community spaces at all times.
1.1 Age Requirement
The minimum age to access and participate in RLS community platforms is thirteen (13) years old, or such higher minimum age as may be required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. Where a community platform independently enforces a higher minimum age, that higher requirement applies.
1.2 Respectful Conduct
- Treat all community members, moderators, and RLS staff with respect. Harassment, intimidation, threats, or targeted abuse directed at any individual or group are prohibited.
- Hate speech, slurs, and discriminatory or extremist language or behaviour based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic are strictly prohibited.
- Trolling, flame-baiting, and deliberate disruption of community discussions or other users' experience are not permitted.
- Respect personal boundaries. Persistent or unwanted contact after a person has indicated they do not wish to be contacted is prohibited.
- Conduct that constitutes bullying — including sustained targeting, public humiliation, or pile-on behaviour — is prohibited regardless of the platform or channel in which it occurs.
1.3 Honesty and Identity
- Impersonation of Riftlab Studios, RLS staff, other community members, or any other individual or entity is prohibited.
- Deliberately spreading misinformation, fabricated claims, or false reports about RLS, its staff, its games, or other community members is prohibited.
- Filing false or malicious reports against other users is prohibited and may itself result in enforcement action.
SECTION 2 — PLATFORM USE AND CONTENT STANDARDS
These standards apply to all content posted, shared, or transmitted in any RLS community space.
2.1 Language and Communication
- In public community channels, please communicate in clear English (UK or US standard). Language-specific channels, where available and designated by moderators, may permit communication in other languages.
- Spam, chain messages, excessive repetition, and unsolicited self-promotion outside of designated spaces are prohibited.
- Excessive use of capitalisation, symbols, or formatting in a manner designed to disrupt readability or draw disproportionate attention is not permitted.
2.2 Content Suitability
All content shared in RLS community spaces must be suitable for members aged thirteen (13) and above.
The following content is strictly prohibited in all RLS community spaces:
- NSFW, sexually explicit, or adult content of any kind.
- Content that promotes, glorifies, or depicts graphic violence, gore, or self-harm.
- Extremist, radicalising, or terrorist content of any kind.
- Content that depicts, facilitates, or promotes illegal activity.
- Suicidal ideation, encouragement of self-harm, or related content that may cause serious distress to vulnerable members.
- Content designed to shock, distress, or harm other community members.
2.3 Privacy and Personal Information
- Sharing personal information, private messages, private recordings, or identifying details of another person without their explicit consent is prohibited. This includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, photographs, and account credentials.
- Doxxing — the act of researching and publicly exposing private information about an individual without their consent — is a serious violation of these Standards and may result in immediate and permanent removal from all RLS community spaces.
- Screen captures, recordings, or logs of private conversations must not be shared in public or semi-public community spaces without the consent of all parties involved, except where required to report a serious violation to moderators through official channels.
2.4 Self-Promotion and External Links
- Self-promotion, referral links, and monetisation links (including affiliate links, Patreon, Ko-fi, and equivalent platforms) are permitted only in designated channels, where provided.
- Posting links to external content that is harmful, illegal, NSFW, or that violates any provision of these Standards is prohibited, regardless of the channel.
- Advertisement of products or services not affiliated with RLS must not be presented as official or endorsed by Riftlab Studios.
2.5 Channel-Specific Rules
Individual community channels may carry additional specific guidelines established by RLS moderators or staff. Channel-specific rules operate alongside — and do not replace — these studio-wide Standards.
Users are expected to familiarise themselves with the purpose and rules of any channel before posting.
SECTION 3 — INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN COMMUNITY SPACES
These provisions apply to the sharing and use of third-party and RLS intellectual property within community spaces. They complement — but do not replace — the more detailed Content Creator Policy set out in Section 8 of the Riftlab Studios Terms of Service.
3.1 Third-Party Intellectual Property
- Share copyrighted material only where you hold the relevant rights or have explicit permission from the rights holder to do so.
- Do not share, distribute, or facilitate access to pirated software, media, game files, or stolen digital assets.
- Respect the trademarks, patents, and intellectual property rights of all creators, studios, and rights holders.
- When sharing third-party creative works (including fan art, music, or written content), provide proper attribution and ensure compliance with the original creator's licensing terms.
3.2 Riftlab Studios Intellectual Property
- Sharing RLS game screenshots, artwork, or other materials in community spaces for the purposes of discussion, fan appreciation, and community engagement is generally welcomed.
- You may not reproduce, redistribute, or repurpose RLS intellectual property — including game assets, audio, artwork, or proprietary systems — in a manner that constitutes commercial exploitation without prior written approval from Riftlab Studios. Refer to Section 8 of the Terms of Service for full details on what is permitted and what requires approval.
- Unauthorised use of RLS trademarks, logos, or branding in a manner that implies official affiliation, endorsement, or origin is prohibited.
- Do not submit or file intellectual property claims over RLS assets, game footage, or content in a manner intended to restrict RLS's or other creators' use of their own material.
SECTION 4 — COMMUNITY OPERATIONS AND MODERATION
Effective community moderation depends on the cooperation of all members. These provisions describe how enforcement operates and what is expected of community participants.
4.1 Moderator Authority
- Community moderators and RLS staff act on behalf of Riftlab Studios and are empowered to enforce these Standards and any channel- specific rules within community spaces.
- Follow moderator and staff guidance during incidents. Refusal to cooperate with reasonable moderator requests may itself constitute a violation of these Standards.
- Do not publicly argue, contest, or escalate active moderation actions in community spaces. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, use official support channels to raise the matter privately and respectfully.
- RLS staff retain the right to act on behaviour not explicitly listed in these Standards where, in their reasonable judgement, such behaviour violates the spirit of these Standards or is otherwise harmful to the community.
4.2 Reporting Violations
- Report rule violations through official and approved support or report channels only. Do not take enforcement action into your own hands.
- Provide accurate and truthful information when making a report. Filing false or malicious reports is prohibited and may result in enforcement action against the reporter.
- Where possible, preserve evidence (screenshots, logs) of a violation before reporting, as this assists the moderation team.
4.3 Circumvention
- Attempting to circumvent enforcement actions — including through the use of alternate accounts, VPNs, or other technical means — is prohibited and may result in escalated or permanent enforcement action.
- Facilitating another user's circumvention of a moderation action is itself a violation of these Standards.
SECTION 5 — ENFORCEMENT
Riftlab Studios and its designated moderators reserve the right to take enforcement action in response to any violation of these Standards, at their sole discretion. Enforcement actions may include any or all of the following, depending on the nature and severity of the violation:
- Informal warning or reminder.
- Formal written warning.
- Temporary suspension of access to one or more community spaces or channels.
- Permanent removal from one or more community spaces.
- Referral to the relevant platform (e.g., Discord) for platform- level action.
- In cases involving illegal conduct or serious harm, referral to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
5.1 Principles of Enforcement
- Enforcement decisions are made in good faith and in the best interests of the community as a whole.
- Serious or repeated violations — including but not limited to harassment, hate speech, doxxing, sharing of NSFW content, circumvention of prior enforcement actions, or threats of violence — may result in immediate and permanent removal without prior warning.
- Riftlab Studios reserves the right to take immediate enforcement action without notice where a violation involves illegal content, serious harm, or an urgent threat to the safety or integrity of the community.
- All enforcement decisions are final unless otherwise determined by Riftlab Studios at its sole discretion.
SECTION 6 — UPDATES TO THESE STANDARDS
Riftlab Studios reserves the right to amend, modify, or replace these Community Standards at any time. For material changes, we will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice via official community channels prior to the changes taking effect.
The version number and effective date at the top of this document will be updated to reflect any revisions.
Continued participation in any RLS community space following the publication of updated Standards constitutes acceptance of those changes.
If any update is unacceptable to you, your sole remedy is to discontinue participation in RLS community spaces.
SECTION 7 — CONTACT
If you have questions about these Standards, wish to report a violation, or need to raise a concern with the moderation team, please contact Riftlab Studios through the official Discord support channels or via the contact information available at riftlabstudios.com.
For formal enquiries, ensure your communication is clearly labelled and directed to the appropriate channel. We will make reasonable efforts to respond to all legitimate enquiries in a timely manner.
